Because Jane has to watch her friends and relatives die, one after the other, and feel impotent or like her decisions and apprehensions were somewhat at fault.
She’s eventually going to invert her role, after all. There’s been evidence.
Right now would be a possible point for Dream!Dirk to get cut down in front of Jane; she’d feel responsible for having distracted him by not staying put and following AR’s orders. (And especially so if he was busy saving her/them.)
Jake also looks like he’s in danger, but that’s more surely a red herring. Unless Jane could Life him up and kick him back to his planet again.
